I managed to get a decent nights sleep on the bus but the girls didn't get any sleep at all. When we arrived in Byron Bay, we got off the bus and got on a minibus which took us to our hostel. Our hostel looked so laid back and chilled out. We stayed in a 9 bed dorm with a rubbish fan and no air conditioning. It was so hot and sticky! The hostel was full of hippies. It was a bit strange but really cool. It felt like we were in a movie!
We had a team nap and walked into town to have a look around. We had heard that Byron Bay was a hippy town but didn't realise how true it was! There were hippies sat drinking in the park singing along to guitars. There were hippies on the streets selling handmade items. It felt like I had been taken back in time! I thought my brother would love this place!
We took a stroll to the beach and came back to a backpackers bar called Cheeky Monkeys which we heard did some good cheap food! The queue was massive and it was only 8pm! We queued for an hour and we met a couple (an australian and canadian) in the queue who were also travelling. When we got in to the bar, they joined our table. We managed to get free cocktails. Made a change from the usual goon! We all ordered chicken snitzel with chips and salad. It was the first proper meal we had eaten out since being in Aus and it felt goooood.
About an hour later the bar got packed and turned into a club. The bar staff were topless and had painted tops on their boobs! Haha! People were dancing on tables (and it was encouraged!!!), so of course we got involved in that! There were so many annoying guys in there as usual so we decided to leave around 1am and go to bed.
