When we arrived, we headed to the centre and found a hostel to stay at. We were all exhausted as we had hardly slept. We then found out that the night bus to Hanoi in Vietnam only runs on Wednesdays and Fridays so we decided to not stay there and get the night bus that evening. We didn't want to spend anymore time in Laos and wanted to go straight to Vietnam.
With ANOTHER 24 hour bus journey ahead of us, we spent the afternoon by a swimming pool in Vientiane. It was absolutely boiling!!! So this was possibly the best decision ever made. We also got to freshen up before we got on the night bus again.
This time we got on a sleeper bus which had beds!!!! We were sooooo happy! We slept most of the way to the Vietnam border but then had to get of the coach to get our passports stamped. The whole process took an hour and a half to get through passport control!! Whilst we were there, we met a New Zealand guy called Ben who worked at the Hanoi Backpackers Hostel. He told us it was great fun so he booked us a room for that night.
We had to walk about 2 miles past the border crossing in order to get back onto our bus. We were worrying about whether we would find the bus again!! It was such a weird set up.
But we made finally made it back onto the bus and carried on to Hanoi for another 9 hours!
