Bangkok was a short stint this time as we were all eager to get down south to the islands, especially as Alex and Steph only had a week left.
We spent the weekend eating (nothing new there), drinking (ditto) and shopping....! On the Sunday we had a productive day, checked out of our guesthouses, grabbed a delicious mixed fruit shake from a street vendor and a few sticks of BBQ'd chicken/pork/liver. We booked our tickets for that evening to Koh Phangan then went to the famous Chatuchak weekend Market by taking a cruise on the ferry down the Chao Praya river and caught some speedy sky trains. I think we were there about 4 hours and bought lots of bits to replace broken/worn clothes so we don't look too trampy when we get back. We also indulged in an 80p lunch break.
We got back just in time for our 'pick up' to the bus, a little Thai guy literally led us on foot through the bustling Bangkok back streets and ran ahead as we sweated and struggled with all our bags! The bus was then late. It was a great comfy bus and we all slept really well for most of the 13 hour trip. When we arrived in Surat Thani we had a minibus to another bus stop, a coach to the pier then a 3 hour ferry to Koh Phangan, finally finishing with a half hour taxi bus to our hotel!!! Total journey time = 18 hours, phew!
We are staying at Delight Resort same as last time and got an incredible deal 450B this time (£9) for pretty much our final five weeks which includes pool, complete with iPod station and hot tub, a room with air-con and loads of space and a dressing area (of sorts), we love it.
So that's all for now, will keep you updated on our last few weeks on the island.
Also, amazing news, Jo is coming out eventually to visit, can't wait to see her

Dad Off Exploring haven't given you a new Thai page have they? Briefly puzzling. Well, what a bus. That sounds rather like luxury, not a word we have come across much in your accounts of your adventures. As I said on an earlier page (!!??$**!) I am certain that you will now be settling down to a few days of sensible behaviour, reading the Financial Times, discussing the mysteries of the cosmos, sipping Earl Grey and having lots of early nights. Ha! And then Jo arrives! I still find it difficult to get my head around the speed at which the last 12 months have flown by (standing still my hair is blowing in my eyes). All the places you've been, the things you've done. Just brilliant. The world is now a totally different place for you both, it has changed, you have changed. What a huge busload/donkeyload/tuktukload of achievements - well done Batgirl and Bandit! Hey, see you soon, lots of love xXx
mummy d Hiyas, just found all these blogs!! I suppose as Adds has been writing regularly I ahve been forgetting to check... now a wee feast, thanks a lot. ENJOY the last while , xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
