Happy New Year everyone!

Spending new year's eve in Sydney has officially ruined new year for me forever - I don't think it will ever be that good again!

I was very spoiled and invited on a little tour of apartments with some of the best views in town to watch the fireworks. First stop was a balcony in Manly on the North Shore to watch the 9pm fireworks with the tv simultaneously showing the harbour fireworks! All the Australians were a bit disappointed with them although I was pretty impressed.

But midnight made me realise how much better fireworks can be... We drove off after the 9 o'clock show across the bridge and into an apartment in the very first tower block over the bridge with an amaxing view across the whole harbour ready to wait until midnight. We certainly weren't disappointed. It was the bets display I've ever seen with fireworks coming off the bridge, off barges out in the harbour and off the top of the big hotels next to the building we were in for about half an hour. Amazing!

Then yesterday was spent recovering around the beach - another big advantage of being in Australia is being able to chill out outside on new year's day to recover instead of being in the freezing cold at home!

So now I'm all packed up and ready to head up the coast this afternoon... First stop is Port Macquarie to visit the koala hospital then on to Byron Bay for a bit more beach time...
