It's been a bit of a shock arriving into the middle of Christmas in Sydney after being somewhere so un-Christmassy for the last few months. It doesn't quite seem right having people singing carols on the street when it's about 28 degrees and everyone's on the beach!
I've been having a fab time doing all the touristy things - zoo, aquarium, botanical gardens, opera house etc. And even managed a day on Manly beach watching everyone else being very energetic and surfing while I just managed to get burnt!
Yesterday was definitely the best day as I went up the Harbour Bridge. Despite being terrified beforehand it was hardly scary at all! The worst bit (apart from having to wear a hideous blue jumpsuit) was climbing up through the bridge on mesh ladders where you can see 6 lanes of cars and 2 railway tracks underneath you but walking along the bridge itself was great. It was a really sunny day so we could see the whole of Sydney and the harbour which is pretty impressive! I'm hoping it might have cured me of my fear of heights for good!
I'm heading back to Wollongong today for a proper Aussie Christmas (although I'm not quite sure what that involves yet!) and then back in Sydney until new year to finish off all the sights and get in a bit more beach time!
Happy Christmas everybody!
