Well here is the low down of our Fraser Island Trip.......
We were in a group of 8 people, 5 girls from downsouth; Imma, Emma, Charl, Helen and Sam, and 1 french guy - Pier.
Just so that everyone knows Fraser is the largest sand island in the world, and it is a 74 miles long, so it is pretty big!
In total there were about 6 truck loads of us that went out that day, and the idea is to drive up and down the beach on a 4x4 when the tides are out, and take in the amazing views of the oean and the fresh air. We went over from rainbow beach on a barge to Frasers, and firstly drove to Lake McKenzie. This is a fresh water lake, and seriously it is so beautiful it is unreal! The water is so blue and there is nothing floating in it at all. The sand is also pure white, so as you can imagine it is pretty gorgeous. First night we had to camp near to a shipwreck, and we all the the 4x4's lined up as a wind breaker, and we had a barbie, and ended up having a little party which was pretty cool. There was no moon that night, so we were sat right under the milkyway which was a pretty amazing sight to see. We saw a few shooting stars flash by to. The girls were hardly the biggest party animals so fortunatly we played drinking games with a group of boys from Peterlee, which was pretty cool, and it was good to hear a bit of Geordie!
Day 2 we were up really early and once we persuaded everone in the group to leave early we drove a couple of K's down to a creek where we sat and chilled out in the sun. In the afternoon we went up to Indian Head and the Champagne Pools and had an amazing view of the ocean. Somne people saw a few sharks dartying about but we didnt manage to see any! Had a pretty early night that night, as we were still recovering from the night before.
Next day we went to Lake Wabbey, which was a trek and a half over sand dunes to get there! The lake is filled with natural minerals and tea tree oils, so we were convinced our skin was softer! In the afternoon we got the barge back over to the main land and had a nice afternoon having a hot shower and a good brew! I was pleased to see a toilet to, as got a bit sick of digging holes...although i was pleased with what a hardcore camper i had been!
The trip was brill and we had great fun driving the 4x4 over the sand....so pleased we were back in one piece! Loads of people can tip their trucks over if they dont get the right gear and stuff.
Well now back to Brissy, to our adoptive partents...The Randalls!
Please check out Ringo for some new pics!
