Day 2 in Tokyo and having had a better nights sleep we woke up and felt refreshed so checked out of our hotel and headed to the Imperial Palace gardens. Such a beautiful day and the gardens were really peaceful and relaxing. We then headed to an area called the Ginzu district which is like what you see on TV of Tokyo - a lot more hustle and bustle and electrical shops.
Walking around we started to get pretty hungry so we walked around and ended up in a tiny little cafe ordering by pictures! Liz had something that resembled bacon and noodles and I had rice and some a strange jelly on the side. Very tasty though (I didn't eat the jelly!)
Checked in to our Ryokan in the Asakusa area which is a more traditional area. The ryokan is cool with little cushions on the floor, a futon and a pot of green tea.
We have also both been pretty surprised by the heated loo seats!!
Everyone we have met has been very friendly and polite and seem to be going out of their way to help us.
So far all good in Tokyo!
Our second in Asakusa, we walked along the river and saw the Asahi beer headquarters and then along the Nakamise-dori to see the Sensoji Temple. Loads of people were buying things from the stalls and lighting insense and placing them down in a area and wafting the smoke over themselves. Liz deceided to do this as well even though we didn't know what it was all in aid of!
Set off in the afternoon to get the train and bus to Hakone.
