Hum...where did we last leave you? Ah yes Liz and I departed ways in Perth. As she went off frolicking into the sunset with Ian for a luxury week, I headed to Sydney to see my dad, Julie and Faye (step mum and sister for those who don't know). After a movie style reunion at the airport we headed back to my dads where I was greeted with a proper bed, with duvet and everything!- these things are a God send after a couple of months of 'roughing it'. Not only that, but I got my own mobile phone too! I spent the week recharging my batteries, getting my nails done and trying not to spend too much money looking around the shopping malls! Then it was time for the fabulous duo to reunite...what better time then 6am at the airport (nice planning Liz!). No rest for the wicked so it was straight out on the boat to cruise around the beautiful rivers of Port Hacking. Well, that was a good 6 weeks ago. Since then we have both started work and on our days off have been exploring many places...The first adventure into the city took us to circular quay, which is where the Opera house and the Bridge is. We have been to see Madama Butterfly at the OH, thanks to Liz's mum and dad, which was just amazing. For those of you who think its not your thing, we highly recommend trying it. We followed this by a posh Italian meal on the harbour...well we tried so hard to glam up our not so glad rags to cut the evening short! Now we have hit civilization, and apparently a country where you cant go anywhere without winding up in a café eating cake, we have been getting into the sporting scene. I joined a gym and netball team when I first arrived, which I have to admit has fallen by the wayside....but at least I tried. Although fun, body-boarding proved to be a challenge- we thought we were going to die whilst our heads were being pounded to the floor and our limbs flaying about like rag dolls, and all this whilst trying to keep hold of our bikinis! We did discover that the waves were a tad high due to the aftermath of tornados up north, so I think we will try again in calmer waters, as well as trying our hand at surfing in Bondi. So... we have turned our efforts to the supporting side of things (ie swooning after muscle men in tight shorts! Sorry Ian not Liz, just me!!). We have seen the Sharkies, Cronulla rugby union team, play twice and really getting into the atmosphere...so much so that we can even sing the Sharkies victory song! We managed to get ourselves on TV last weekend at the Aussie rules footie at the telstra Olympic stadium (Sydney Swans v Geelong Cats) as we were right at the front. I have to say the attention from Julie, me, and Liz was paid mainly to number 25, 12 and 10 he he!! We have had 2 nights out in Sydney, the first being to the backpacker places, which was a great laugh, although we paid $35 to stay in a hostel for 3 hours. Hm....maybe we should have gone to bed earlier! Our second night in the city was lead by my friend Tara, who took us to some more upmarket places, and since then have been to Manly and the only club of Cronulla (Northies) to boogie on down. We befriended the captain of the harbour ferry, so we got free ferrying between harbours for a day, and Liz can now say that she has driven a passenger catamaran into Darling Harbour AND we live to tell the tale! Well done Elizabeth! Whilst roaming around we have accidentally discovered the Lindt cafe, yes girls that's the Lindt chocolate cafe, with the most divine hot chocolate in the world-pure melted chocolate and a jug of hot milk...Mmm! We are just having the best time, and I have managed to catch up with some friends from home, and we have met up with Neil, a guy we met 2 months back up in Chang Mai and spent the day at Taronga Zoo....where I got to stroke a red panda (check out the pics)!! We have done so much we cant fit it all into one postcard. Whilst working we have managed to squeeze in an Easter weekend in Canberra, a weekend at the blue mountains and Jenolan caves, and 3 day trip to Melbourne to meet the 'neighbours' stars....check out our genuine claim to fame! Lots of Love and hugs to everyone xoxox
