I was up early today and off to the Gold Coast for some whale watching with the girls from Girlcrew.
We arrived around 11.30. It was a beautiful sunny day. We were a bit early so we went for a drink and bite to eat at one of the bars around the harbour, passing Pelicans and so many fishes
We boarded the boat around 1 and set sail at 1.30. The views of the beaches were lovely. We were around 3 miles out to sea when the crew spotted a mother whale we a calf which they estimated to be just a week old! Whales can hold their breath for 40minutes, but baby whales can't which meant they returned to the surface every 5 minutes or so - the difficulty was trying to figure out where!!
The sightings were a bit 'blink and you'll miss them' so rather than try and photograph it I concentrated on just watching them, and they were huge! They were just metres in front of us at times!
The time flew by and it was soon time to head back to land, and after a quick drink we were on the road back to brisbane after a fun day
