Day 103 (59 days remaining!)

Hello from Thailand! Part 2 of my travels has officially begun:)

I had a lovely couple of days in Melbourne before flying to Bangkok yesterday - and then arriving at Hua Hin (the base for my elective) at 3am this morning!

Flying during Swine Flu seems to warrant all sorts of unusual precautions, and on disembarking the plane we were made to stand 1m apart down a long corridor whilst officials walked by with masks, gloves and an external heat sensor to check for fever. I think you would need a temperature of about 40degrees to even register with the sensor, let alone be "visably suffering"! I made matters worse for myself with a sneezing fit during the process.... not that I have flu I hasten to add! Immigration was easy and I was met by the driver at the airport for the two and a half hour drive out of Bangkok to Hua Hin. The hotel seems lovely, and I'm heading off into town soon to see some more of Hua Hin itself! There are two other medical students staying here, but as yet I don't know how to find them!!! I am also lacking information on the hospital itself - where/when/what I am doing for a start! The promised arrival pack is yet to materialise....

I'm actually off to Ko Samui for five days from Tuesday (and this is meant to be work!!) so I'm sure I will be in touch with you all again soon,
