Hello again!
So last time i was at Ko Tao on my diving course. This was a fab experience with its ups and downs. On our 3rd day a girl in our group had an asthma attack and had to be taken off the island so we couldn't dive...this put us a day behind and we had to stay another night...they didn't charge us though :-). sh ewas ok in hte end and we carried on in our sea dive the next day. I realised my fear is breathing in water through my nose but with help from our amazing instructor Claude he helped me overcome this (You need to do this as part of the course...taking off your maska nd breatjing stuff underwater in case of emergency) but generally i was fine with the breathing. visibility was poor because of the monsoon (we dived in thunder and lightening - anything will be easy after this) we still went down 13metres and saw the reef and fish etc. Sadly the next day i was a little sick and was advised not to dive which is a real shame as i couldn't complete the full open water course. However...the positive is that i overcame my fear and am still going to get my licence as a scuba diver...just to 12 metres instead of 18. And hopefully if i dive 2 more times with instruction i can top it up! so all was good.
After the dreaded boat there we feared coming back on a ferry...but with the aid of fresh air...sea sickness tablets...music and a horizon to watch we survived yay! We then arrived on Ko Samui where we are now. And it didn't rain today for the first day in ages :-). Today we did a tour of the island and saw all the sights which was all very touristy but great fun! After a shocking rip off resort last night (with added cockroach) we have booked into a nice hotel (which is cheaper...thailand is weird) to chill tonight and had our first hot shower since we arrived...bliss. Plus we spoilt ourselves with fresh crunchy apples from tesco....hahaha u cannot find them anywhere here and we were craving them. Tomorrow we get the ferry to the mainland and then a bus to phuket where hopefully the weather will actually be sunny. We are planning to do a thai boxing course for a day and then visit the beautiful island Phi Phi.
Things to remeber: our fantastic diving instructor Claude, the rain but with warm weather, beautiful temples and waterfalls, bananas - my daily staple, meeting new people on the trips, getting a scuba licence!
