Hello everyone!

We arrived yesterday, after the LONGEST flight ever!! And it didnt help that we had a crazy Scottish man sitting next to us who took full advantage of the free bar!! We tried teaching him some card games, but where he was so drunk, he just didnt understand. The food was mighty lovely though - good one British Airways! It was good that we stocked up on the flight because weve actually eaten about one roll since weve been here because of the heat.

Our hostel is quite nice, although we were a bit scared and uncomfortable at the beginning because it down a side alleyway. The drive on the way was worse though - they dont use indicators and they dont care what lane theyre in and they also dont care if they break too late! We were holding onto eachother for our lives..... Anyway, we met two girls in the hostel that were on our flight out here, so weve been spending some time with them. Even though it is SO hot, we woke up actually shivvering because of the air conditioning - not that were moaning! The beds were surprisingly comfortable however we think theyre slightly fragile, as when either of us moved, the other thought there was an earthquake going on or something!! We are sharing a room with about 4 other girls, one is German and the rest are Portuguese. They seem OK but we dont think that were liked that much as we came in late last night when they were all asleep and had to turn on the light and go through our bags to get ready - uh ohhh.

Today, we woke up really early - about ten to 8, but it was good as we were in time for the free breakfast! There were rolls, with ham and cheese (which didnt look too good so we left those!) and jam. Afterwards, we went to Copacobana beach, which we had to get a metro to. However it was only two stops and it only cost about 2 pounds there and back, which is a mighty bargain! Were already burnt though, even though we applied factor 50 literally every 10 seconds!! It is that hot..but not that were complaining! Hopefully in a few days we will have nice glowing tans instead of looking like tomatoes - they can blatently tell that were English!

Were off to see a football match in about an hour so we best go and try and disguise this redness! Hopefully well get some good pics and well have them up as soon as we have a few more.
