Today is Elizabeth's LAST 24 hour shift👏. She's so ready to get out of here as the hospital is becoming overrun with Covid patients, including the maternity ward. Pregnant women are being brought in with Covid as this is the only place (aside from possibly Fairbanks) that has the resources to deal with them.. which is especially frustrating for the docotrs and nurses as the patients are all unvaccinated.
Joe had zoom meeting with work in the morning so I "had" to spend time with Zoe. Greg and I also worked on clearing out the refrigerators, and the freezer. It's all slowly coming together.
Joe and I then met up with Claire and John LeClaire for a nice hike at Hillside Park. We were lucky and the sun was out the whole time, making for a very pleasant visit. We will truly miss these times with them.
Claire was one of Randy's best friends, and Joe and I met her when we visited Alaska for the first time in 1986. Claire joined us for a few days of camping and we shared stories (and tears) and really got to know each other. Every time we're up here we all get together and have shared some very special times.
We got back in time for each of us to hop onto our family zoom which was a nice surprise since they end up being at 3:00 and 4:00 here which is a hard time to make it work.
We were able to squeeze out another meal with some halibut (halibut and chicken fajitas). Tomorrow night is our last chance as after that we're packing up the kitchen and ordering in for the next few nights.
