Yesterday was spent trying to pack up the rest of everything; figuring out what's going to fit in the cars (which we won't know for sure until we pack everything up tonight and tomorrow morning); and Greg meeting his sister, and then Elizabeth going on a nice hike with a few friends. Elizabeth got home this morning from her 24 hour shift, thankful to be almost done working here. Here hospital was just interviewed about how bad it is there.. People are having to wait out in their cars for hours to be seen in the ER due to all of the Covid cases here. Today is Elizabeth's LAST 24 hour shift👏. She's so ready to get out of here as the hospital is becoming overrun with Covid patients, including the maternity ward. Pregnant women are being brought in with Covid as this is the only place (aside from possibly Fairbanks) that has the resources to deal with them.. which is especially frustrating for the docotrs and nurses as the patients are all unvaccinated. Forgot to mention in my blog yesterday that our flights here were completely packed. Thankfully, everyone on the plane wore their masks and the vast majority did so even if they were eating or drinking (just lifting the mask to do so).
