Dragonboat racing Well, believe it or not, I decided to get involved in a corporate event - dragonboat racing. Pretty scary I know considering most people know that I'm an absolute weakling and can barely open a bottle - let alone paddling in a race! Surprisingly, I had a fantastic time and would like to do more of it! Two ladies I work with at Griffith belong to the Burleigh Fire Dragons and they had their annual regatta on Sunday. As part of the regatta, they had a corporate challenge and we were all asked to be part of it. I said yes because at the time, they didn't give me a choice but as I said, I loved it. After 2 practice sessions, the 12 of us were ready to take on other companies like John Deere, some muscly butchers, Terry White Chemists and a few others. Of course, we were the weakling library staff so we didn't win. Boy did we have fun trying though! As one lady Shirley said, we might not have won any of our races (there were 3) but we crossed the finish line with big grins and in laughter every time. It was a fantastic day and I'd love to be part of it again!
