Lisa and Simon`s Around the World Tour
Arrived in Sydney expecting 42 degree heat as forecasted. Thankfully, it was only 35, reaching 40 the following day. Coming from NZ where we were used to nothing more than the low 20s, and much less in the mountains, we both struggled.
We were to be in Sydney for just 2 days, with the sole intention of buying a car. We satyed what we thought would be the ideal place for buying - Kings Cross - supposedly a part of town full of hostels and a few cheap car places. It turned out to be the Soho of Sydney, and we stayed in a hostel on the main drag overlooking an establishment called Showgirls. So with it being too hot to sleep, we had plenty to watch from our window.
After trawling hostel notice boards and seeing a few examples of the sheds the hippy backpackers were trying to sell, we found a Ford Falcon (Granada) estate. 11 years old, cheap, mechanically seems ok but otherwise showing its age. We loaded up and waved goodbye to Sydney.
