So, after a long bus journey to northern Malaysia on a bus (with no toilet!), we arrived in Kuala Besut, the tiny fishing village that is the gateway to the Perhentian Islands. Jim booked the boat tickets and we went to wait down by the harbour. We had chosen Pelau Perhentian Kecil - 'Kecil' meaning 'small' in Malay- as it is the most popular with backpackers due to cheaper prices and its more party atmosphere. Sounded good to me! Jim and I arrived in Kuala Lumpur on 3rd of May, tired and weary after our long, long flight from Heathrow . Watched 3 movies, 3 half hour sitcoms and an hour long special on Tyra Banks (the poor thing is successful, rich AND beautiful, gutted). So only managed to fit in about 30 mins sleep, and despite the excitement of finally being in Malaysia, I pretty much just wanted to lie down and fall into a coma.
