Nha Trang was awesome! The beach was beautiful & there's an amazing atmosphere here. I met a girl Eva from Holland on the bus & followed her to the guesthouse where her friend was already staying. Eva is the quiet type so i was a bit suprised to meet her friend Jonny from England. They are the exact opposite of eachother. Jonny is the sort of guy you'd expect to meet on a lads holiday in Ibiza & he's a laugh a minute. It's quite funny because Eva mothers him a bit & takes him home when he's drank too much ha ha.
We spent the first day on the beach & met loads of other people. I got really sunburned. I used factor 50 on my face but factor 30 that i'd bought in Thailand everywhere else. It's one of the first time I'd used it & I'm pretty sure it doesn't work at all. It's 4 days later & I'm still hurting.
The night life here is great too, we met some other girls & then a big group of us went to the sailing club where there is a bar on the beach. Me & Eva got up early the next morning to see the sun rise but it was raining & cloudy so we walked to the beach & then home to bed for another 2 hours. That day we went on a boat trip, Jonny had to be dragged out of bed as usual. It was quality! We met loads of other people on the boat & it was one big party with kareoke (they asked me to sing a song in front of 4 boatfulls of people so i was straight up there - can't keep me off it now!). They had 4 old guys as a band with instruments they'd made but they were great & there was a floating bar. I even braved the sea & did a bit of snorkling. When we were all drinking at the floating bar I started to feel stinging on my legs & so did everyone else. It turned out to be jellyfish but they were so small you couldn't even see them & the stinging stopped after a few seconds - they were totally harmless. After more dancing & singing & drinking we went to a aquarium. Jonny had a bit too much to drink & fell over & cut his head & then later fell off the boat when trying to get back on it - i've never laughed so much in my life. I can see why he needs mothering by Eva.
We had stopped on an island & were on the beach having a few beers, I was in the sea paddling when Jonny tackled me & knocked me flying into the sea - he didn't see that I had my camera around my neck! I panicked, the camera was ruined although if I'm lucky it will work when it dries out again. I was gutted about the camera but more worried about the memory card which has all my pictures on it. Thankfully when we got back I put it in my back up camera & it still worked. Then we went out in the evening, I was showing my pictures to these irish guys & one of them managed to wipe the card. All my pics are gone. Most of them are on here but all my excellent ones from the past week are gone & I was taking most of the photos that day. I'm gutted. I've heard that they can be recovered by a computer program but the chances of finding an expert here in Vietnam are slim. No one has a computer here. I've looked on the internet & a company guarantees to recover tham but it costs $600. Does anyone know anything about it? Can they be recovered?
Anyway I was not happy but it was still a good night. I met a girl called Paula who is really cool, I think we're going to travel together for a bit. Then Eva washed her hands of Jonny - he was still out drinking after the boat trip & me & Paula got him home although at one point we left him lying on the floor with dogs licking his face. Hilarious.
The next morning me & Eva got up to watch the sunrise (attempt no 2) & again we didn't really see anything - couldn't work out where it was! It wasn't over the sea where it was supposed to be! Not that I could photograph it anyway! We had such a good time on the first boat trip that me & Jonny went on another boat trip while Eva had a day of diving. Once again I had to drag Jonny out of bed & when we got on the coach we realised we had no money - not a penny between us! So we had no money & no camera. It was ok though, we hired a photographer to follow us round all day & the tour guide lent us some money & we had to sign all these contracts to say we'd pay it all back. It was a lot posher than our boat trip & there was no dancing (although me & Jonny got up & sang!). We couldn't afford to drink beer so we bought this really cheap wine & got friendly with a Canadian couple & their daughter. They took a lot of pics of us & will email them so that was nice. The highlight of the day was the Osterich rodeo (the only reason me & Jonny went on the trip) It was wicked! I have a very sore bum now.
I had an early one last night. With all the partying & my sunburn I hadn't had much sleep. Jonny didn't get back in til 6 in the morning & I'm not sure if he made his bus to Mui Ne or not. We were on different buses & the last I saw of him he was running down the road because he was late. I'm in Mui Ne now & I haven't seen him yet ha ha! Mui Ne is nice, the beach is fantastic & it's a hot spot for surfing so there are sooo many fit guys about but it's a lot quieter than Nha Trang & there's not a lot to do except lie on the beach (which I can't because of the sunburn) but there are a few nice bars so maybe it will liven up tonight. I think I will leave tomorrow for Saigon & where Paula is.
Please let me know if you know if there's anything I can do about the camera situation. I don't mind sending the memory card home.
Hope you enjoyed your easter eggs & mum if you eat mine there'll be trouble!
