I've been in Sukhothai since Sunday. I was supposed to arrive Saturday but wasn't feeling well so spent an extra day in Ayutthaya. It was nice though, i met some lads from Newcastle so I showed them around & watched the football with them. They're doing the exact same trip as me so I'll probably be seeing a lot more of them. They were a bit peeved though because there's a ban on sale of alcohol at the moment because it's the thai elections (this ensures the thai people actually vote instead of staying in bed with a hangover).
It was a 6 hour coach journey to Sukhothai. The temples here are much better than Ayutthaya but there's still not much to do. The temples all look the same to me! Yesterday I hired a pink bicycle & cycled around the temples. Who ever said you never forget how to ride a bike was wrong. I fell off twice, once when I first got on & once after I went over a speed bump. It was so embarrassing, loads of people saw it, I just went straight into a hedge! Didn't help that the stupid thing had no brakes. It wasn't all bad though because a hot french man came over to help me up ha ha!
Then I went out for some food & met some Danish & Austrian people & I was chatting to them til the early hours. My hostel is lovely & the best part is that it has a hot shower! I'm getting really badly bitten by the mosquitos at the moment & my repellent doesn't seem to work. It's funny because since I've been in Sukhothai I haven't seen one mosquito. Maybe it's bed bugs.
I'm off to Chang Mai tomorrow & I can't wait to do my trek. Don't mean to worry you, Gramps but before I can worry about the sharks in Aus there's the cobra snakes in the jungle I have to get past first! Hah ha!
