well hallo!!
I am back into civiliasation! but what a few amazing days I've had! started off monday by gettting up at 5 in the morning..wow that is early for a girl who has had vacation for the last couple of months..but hey! we made it and we got up and made the bus in time. drove for 5 hour out to the nationalpark nearby the Kata Tjuta rock. took some photos and walked up a small hill to get a better look at the view. the landscape was like nothing I've ever seen before! the reest of the walking track was closed because of the heat. the forecast said up to 39 degrees. got back into the bus and drove to our campingsite. we had pasta salad for lunch, before we drove out to the cultural centre in kata Tjuta natinalpark. there was a lot of information about the aboriginies and their way og livng and believes. quite interesting, especially because we have hardly seen any aboriginees in australia before we got to Alice Springs. and the ones we noticed there was drinking and roming the streets. the aboriginieshave not been treated right by the white people and they have unfortunately a lot of social problems and is on the top of the statistics when it comes to drinking. if I understand it right.
We then drived out to the Uluru to see the sunset over the rock. the rock is famous for changing color while the sun goes up and comes down. and we were not alone there as tourists! it was busload after busload with people and everyone wanted to take pictures. it was almost a bit crowded. I must say that I don't think the rock changed so much. but there were some clounds so maybe that kept the sun away. we then drove back to the campingsite to make dinner. everybody in the group take turns in helping out with the meals. after dinner it was bedtime. we got our swags out (sleepingmadrass /bag) and slept on the ground under the stars. it was the most amazing sky I have ever seen. you could see all the stars very clear, and it was just beautiful.
the next morning we got up at 04.30am. because we were going to see the sunrise over Uluru we had to get up this early. there were at least the same mount of people by the rock this morning if not even more. But I think the rock changed color a little bit more the second time than the first. after the sunrise we drove to the other side of the rock to take a walk. or guide Jenny told us a lot about the stories that are connected to the rock. then we could choose to go back to the bus or take a hike around the rock. We all decided to walk around..it was good excersise, but a bit warm..up to 39 degrees I think. we used a little under 2 hpurs to complete the walk. then we drove to a pool near Kings Canyon where we got to take a swim. that felt very nice for sore feet and heated bodies.
to get to know eachother a little bit in the group we all got something to draw at the inside of the buswindows with. we wrote our names, where we were from, age and maybe a little bit about ourselves or our country. then Jenny walked around and chose a winner. the two japaneese girls won. it was a good way to learn some names and a little bit about each person.
that night we stayed in a camp much longer into the bush. we had spaghetti bolognese for dinner and slept again in the swags under the stars. the difference this time was that in the bush there are wildlife. in our case; dingoes! dingoes looks like dogs but they are not. they are not tame, and they shpuld be left alone. some of the people in the group was a bit tence (marthe included) the dingoes did come into our camp that night and the following morning, but they left us alone like we left them alone. I had big trouble sleeping because one of my wisdome (?) tooths decided to make an apperance. a painful apperance..and in addition to that I have a throat that hurts.. I think it is all the temperature changes. from VERY hot to VERY air con cold. so everytime I swallow it hurts from the bottom of my throat and all the way up to my left ear. but hey, I will survive. I'll be fine in a couple of days!
wednesday mornign we got up at five. we walked the Kings Canyon trek for 3 hours and wanted to start before it got to hot. the westherforecast tld us about temperatures up to 45 degrees.. we had a very straight up walk for the first 10 minutes, the rest was just a stroll. kings Canyon was really beautiful. read my comments in the photoalbum. a little more facts there. the flies on this 3 day trip has been awful I didn't know there even excisted so many flies!! we wore flienets all day and it was always buzzing around us. that is one thing I am not going to miss!
after Kings Canyon we went to the pool again, had chicken burgers for lunch berofre heading back to Alice Springs. a 5,5 hour drive. we had dinner with two swedish sisters we met on the tour, and then took a shower and relaxed. Marthe and Ingunn went out, but I have enough trouble swallowing water so I didn't want to start drinking beer. tomorrow we fly out to Sydney, and then to Auckland. Our time in Australia is over..it is quite sad and I think i most definitely have to come back!!
Thank you for reading, and have a nice day!=)
