Noosa Heads
Noosa HeadsSunday morning I woke up early and phoned home to talk with my parents. Strange to be a day ahead, but really nice to talk to them. After breakfast and packing my backpack, I met up with Alberto again, as we were both on the same bus to Noosa Heads. The trip took 5 hours with various stops to drop off people and pick up new ones. When we arrived we took about 50 steps and then we were at our hostel - a charming old house transformed into hostel with bar and restaurant. We arrived in the afternoon so that Alberto and I decided to find a supermaked so we could shop for dinner. Alberto had been here before so he knew of a cheaper place than the supermarkedet close to our hostel. We walked for about 20 minutes bought the things we needed and went back again. One of my room mates, a girl from Switzerland seemed like she was a little lonely so I suggested we cooked together - I had plenty of food, so it was no problem for me. It was very nice and we made som pretty good food. Afterwards we met Alberto and a guy from Wales and we played a little ping pong and drank a few beers. Very nice evening!Next morning I put on my 'hiking shoes' and went to Noosa National Park. This is a mix of forest and sea views. I walked a total of about 10 km with breaks where I saw dolphins in the ocean and a wild koala in a tree. Halfway on my trip I relaxed on a very nice, and next deserted beach. At the information at the beginning of the park, I was told that it was a clothed optional beach (Ilove this expression!), which is illegal in Queensland, so the lady said that she had to 'warn' me about it :-) Most people had optioned for clothes but a few middle-aged men chose to let things hang loose. I have absolutely no problem with this, but I must admit that I found my book a whole lot more interesting than the naked men :-)When I got back to Noosa, I went to the beach armed with plenty of sunscreen. The sun was extremely strong (the lifeguards had put up warning signs up) so after 2 hours I could feel my skin roasting and I went back to the hostel where I enjoyed the shade and my book. I made dinner again in the communal kitchen, but after the long walk in the morning, I was tired so it would be an early night. I had to pack again the next morning and get on the bus to Coolangatta...Noosa Heads is a really nice place. Not very big but a nice beach and friendly people. I could probably have used one more day here, but I'm sure it's just as nice in Coolangatta. I will find out tomorrow ....
