On Tuesday we caught the bus to Colonia del Sacramento where we stayed in a beautiful little posada. It's a tiny cobbled colonial town and a UNESCO world heritage site. It was very quaint with an old (not working) lighthouse in the central square and lots of old cars dotted around. We just had a potter then made our way home before heading out to a lovely dinner where I had the biggest tuna steak I've ever seen!
I really enjoyed Uruguay, even though we were only there for a short time. It seems fairly well-off as we didn't see any poverty in the places we visited and everyone was well-dressed. The people are just wonderful and you don't get ripped off, probably because it's not yet on the tourist track so they have no reason to hike up their prices. Apparently the east of Uruguay and the beaches are very nice so that's one for the 'next time' list!
