Ciao people, In Rome at last which I have been really looking forward to. We go on a night tour first and visit, amongst other things, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps (which I tripped up quite literally). The Pantheon is amazing, a remarkable piece of architecture and so old. Would like to see it in the daylight and have a proper wander round. The Spanish Steps are pretty cool. Italians meet here before a big night out and it is a great place...

Vatican City is awe inspiring and so imposing. St Peter's Basillica is incredible and the best religious church/basillica I have ever seen. Its just something everyone should see, Catholic or no. I was kind of expecting a 'spiritual'moment when I saw the basillica like I experienced at Sacre Coeur, but no such luck. The Vatican museums are also quite beautiful but I really only wanted to see the Sistine Chapel, which was predicatably at the end. Worth it though...

Oh Venice is just beautiful! This to me is the true Italia and I am very pleased to say the people here are friendlier! It took a pleasant 30 minute cruise from the mainland to get here and it was well worth it. Had to do a gondola ride which was really enjoyable, although my cold masked the smell from the canals (it does smell bad...) but who cares, the aesthetic pleasures outweigh the practicalities! Well i'm afraid the home of the Rennaisance doesn't do anything for me. The history is quite fascinating, as are the famous people who have come from here and gone on to create history. eg Gallileo, Leonardo Da Vinci, but the buildings, with the exception of the cathedral, do not have as much aesthetic appeal as those in Paris or Pisa. On our way to Florence we make a quick stop in Pisa to see the legendary leaning tower.There is also a cathedral and a separate building where Italians go to be christened. The tower does not lean as much you expect, the top two tiers having been straightened to avoid it falling over, but it still leans and of course you have to 'do the cheesy picture'.I felt a bit daft whilst posing to push the tower, but everyone does and it's quite funny to see so many tou...
