Hot, hot, hot!
Yesterday I had the most amazing day. Most of us went on a private speedboat trip to the Phi Phi Islands. The speedboat was fun, if a bit bumpy when you sat at the front (which made it more fun). Then we went to Bamboo Island which was a tiny secluded island. Here, we explored a bit, took lots of photos and just relaxed for half an hour. Then we headed to the Island from the film 'The Beach'. There were lots of other people round there but we did a bit of snorkelling just off the island for a bit. It took me a while to get used to it, I started hyperventilating trying to get used to the breathing but gradually got used to it and saw lots of pretty fish. It was fun!
Then we headed off to Phi Phi Leh and relaxed on a tiny beach which was away from all the tourists a bit more than some of the others. We saw a Viking Cave too and then stopped at an island where there were loads of monkeys hanging around waiting to be fed, they were very cute and I took more photos (surprise surprise). Our next stop was Phi Phi Dom which is much more commercialised and lots more tourists. We had lunch there and wandered a bit but unfortunately didn't get much time to look too much at the shops etc.
After this, we headed off and stopped in the middle of the sea. I was a bit confused at first and then even more confused when someone said we were here to snorkel. I was a little scared. I was convinced I couldn't do it and watched other people get in. It freaked me out there was nowhere but the boat to swim to, should a shark (ha ha) decide to eat me. But, I decided this trip was not about being afraid and about doing stuff I wouldn't normally so I jumped in and am so glad I did because it was beautiful!
There was one final stop before heading home and we had an hour to sunbathe and relax on this island (annoyingly I don't know the name). I think we'd all (including my bright red nose) had enough of the heat/sun by then so I went in the sea a bit and sat in the shade.
I came back, chilled out after a fab day and then a few of us went for dinner and then on to a bar but it turned into a relatively early night, as I think we were exhausted from the heat!
Today was just a day of leisure. I went to the beach first thing, after I decided my nose wasn't quite red enough, he he! Then met up with a girl on the trip, we had lunch and then had a Thai massage which involved some positions I had no idea I could move into and it was quite painful at times but I'm sure it did me a lot of good! :) Oh and English money, it was the equivalent of 2 pounds (can't find a pound sign!) Then we headed along the beach a bit, saw some monkeys, fed them (will upload photos at some point) and just headed back. Dinner later with the whole group and then an early night in preparation for a 7am start to Penang tomorrow!
