The rain didn't let up all day in Noosa so we had some dinner together, chatted a bit and then just got an early night. It was a bit of a shame because the town actually looked quite pretty the next morning. The 3 of us got on the bus and headed off. It turned out I was going to be the only one going to Surfer's Paradise and after that point there is nowhere to hold koalas as it's illegal so I decided to stick with the girls and come to Brisbane instead. People had said it was dull so I wasn't sure what to expect but I actually really like it. It's much more like a city at home and it's actually nice to have a bit of a break from all the same beach/backpacker towns we've seen so much of. I'm staying at Base which is actually ok and have met a nice few girls in the dorm. I just had a bit of a wander of the shops yesterday but I'm resisting buying anything much due to expenses. It seems nice though.
In the evening, we cooked dinner (I've resorted to beans on toast for a bit) and then headed upstairs to get ready and start drinking, playing cards etc. We met a few other people, played for quite a while and then went to the bar downstairs. It was good fun. The only downside was that I was at least 5 years older than any of them!! It was a bit weird and I felt old but I had fun with the young'uns nonetheless and kept up with the pace, ha! It seems I'm better practiced at the drinking than they are he he.
This morning I woke up before anyone else and got the bus to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to cuddle a koala and get a photo taken. They are really cute and very sleepy most of the time, however the one I held (called Sprite) chose the time I was holding it to have a poo. I felt a few movements as I was holding it but tried to maintain the smile for the photo. As it was removed from me, I noticed 2 little presents, very cute of it! There were 130 koalas there and loads of other animals too, including wombats, dingoes (less scary than at Fraser Island), kangaroos and many birds. It was good fun. After that I had a bit of a wander of the shops, popped to Woolworths for another tin of 69c baked beans and here I am! Tomorrow I'm getting the bus to Byron Bay which I'm really looking forward to, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is nice!
I'll keep you posted. The rain seems to have stopped here for now which is good. xx
