We sailed 50 klms from the St. Lawrence to La Baie, the gateway to the Saguenay Fjord National Park. Located on the banks of the Ha Ha Bay, La Baie was the first colony built in the Saguenay region. It was an important part of an eighteenth century commercial route used by the Hudson Bay Company’s fur traders. During recent times logging, pulp and paper and aluminum have been the major sources of economic development.
