We spent one night in Antofagasta, which is the capital of the Atacama Desert and is on the coast so it is not that dry and always quite foggy, and then we crossed the worlds driest desert on the next day.
It was so dry there were not even any cacti. It looked like the surface of the moon, there were just rocks everywhere. Its true what they say about deserts.
In the middle of the Atacama there are big salt plains and we stopped at this huge mound of salt. It was hard work climbing to the top of the salt mound because it was like walking on shattered glass. Yes, this salt was pretty sharp. When I got to the top there were incredible views so I yelled at Katie to bring the camera up. She told me to b***** off so I had to slide down, get the camera, and once again scale this mini salt mountain. I hope you enjoy the photos.
Aidan.
