Austria 10th July.
Our entrance into Austria from Slovenia was in a tunnel built during WWII by concentration camp prisoners to help the movement of German soldiers. Then we were in the Austrian hill , heaps of bush, water falls and small farms with beautiful houses and, cows with bells and perfectly stacked firewood. After one nights stop on the way we reached our camping ground in Vienna was very handy to the city and a really nice camp there were people in it from all different countries. Our day in Vienna was a Sunday and we were in early so it was very quiet for a start. We arrived at Karlsplatz and saw the beautiful church Karlskirke, then walked into the old town to find the Spanish riding school. Vanessa bought a ticket to a display of mares and foals, young stallions and carriage horses in the riding school so she was absolutely over the moon and took a million photos.
While she was at that we visited the Imperial Palace and gardens, Stephansdom church and watched the clock strike noon in Hoher Markt. In the afternoon we went to the Haus der Musik and learnt about Vienna’s famous composers, Beethoven, Mozart, Strauss, Hayden and Schubert.
Later on we went to the Rathaus ( town hall ) which is a magnificent building and down in front of it we found tea the area was filled with street vendors selling meals. It was packed with people and music was playing which was fun. It is a shame we couldn’t spend more time in Austria, i would have loved to explore the Alps and gone to Innsbruck but we are wanting to get to Norway.
