Rome Top Tip: All of the water fountains in Rome are fresh drinking water, so if you ever get the chance to go yourself save your money paying for water and just fill up in the many fountains they have. Any that arn't drinking water say so but we didnt see any you could'nt drink from!
No day by day on this one as we saw way to much and can't for the life of us remember what we saw on each day so we'll make a list of all the places we remember seeing at the bottom.
So Rome.... just the best place we have been so far! And not just by a little bit it was phenonamal, loved every second of it. We decided we needed to look into transport as the camp's shuttle bus was cheap but ran at crappy times, so after asking around we came to the conclusion that a roma pass was the best way to get around, costing 30 euro it gave us three days of unlimited public transport (Bus, Tram and the Metro) but it also included entry into two museums or archielogical sites, considering that the colloseum was 14 euro each the pass sort of paid for itself!
Our first day of exploring was an easy one to start us off we went in at 3pm for the afternoon, we got the shuttle in as we didn't want to waste the roma pass. It was our first glimpse of Rome and we both instantly loved it and could'nt wait to see more! That night back in the camp we discovered that there was a free walking tour run at 10am and 5pm, there was two to choose from and it took a while to decide which one we wanted to do. We went in nice and early keen to explore as much as we could.... after hours of walking, jumping on and off the metro, and seeing some amazing things like the colloseum (awesome) and the roman forums (also awesome) we headed towards our 5pm meeting with the free walking tour. While sitting around a fountain waiting for the tour to start we talked and talked about what we had seen and how much we loved Rome (if i have'nt mentioned it enough we love it in Rome). 4pm finally came and after a much needed rest we joined around 30 people to head off and see another load of amasing places.
We wanted to see the colloseum and the trevi fountain at night but after 12 hours of walking around we were too tierd so decided to do that a different day.
The trevi and the colloseum at night were even more impressive the only thing that spoilt rome a little for us was the scaffolding that you just could'nt get away from, aparently it was the time of year for it so if you ever want to go I would go a little later on in the year! So I know we have'nt written loads about Rome but there's not much to write really other than its an amazing place and we loved every minute of it, I would recommend to everyone to go and see it for yourself. The list of as many places we can remember seeing are just below, we are going to put the name of all the places on the pictures when we get time as this takes ages to do.
List of really cool things we saw;
