Milan, Italy
20th - 22nd July
Two nights in Milan, first things first we had to find the hotel this time more prepared as we had two sets of directions both saying it would take about an hour and a half to get there. This is a daunting fact when you have a very big bag each to carry, so we decided public transport was in order. Half hour later we arrived at our one star hotel, we had a private double room with a shower, sink and a shared bathroom. The room was basic with a comfy bed, the only let down was the shower not having a curtain so when you used it the bedroom got drenched!
A very grand place is Milan, with fancy buildings and very expensive shops i.e. A mercedes benz clothing shop were you could buy a plain white polo shirt for just 159 euro BARGAIN! It's definatly a place to go just to say you have been there as it's a very pretty city, but just like siena we won't be going back unless we win a whole lot of money.
After strolling around town for ages in the backing sun we decided it was time to head back and get some food. By this time the sun had gone and there were massive black clouds coming over, so we head out quickly in search of food hoping to beat the weather.... We failed, just after leaving the hotel it started raining and then the thunder and lightening started, we couldn't have timed it worst. While waiting for our food to take back to the hotel with us it started to hail, it just got heavier and heavier and the hail got bigger and bigger untill it was raining pound coin sized balls of ice. So now faced with the thought of getting battered by huge balls of ice we decided to let our food get a little cold and wait for it to die down. Luckily the staff were very friendly and let us use there umbrella, they were even willing to open early the next day so we could take the umbrella back. After some amazing food we took the brolly back as it was now sunny again.
Time for sleep ready for our coach to switzerland in the morning. Lauterbrunnen here we come!
