We have had three unplanned days in La Paz now as we have been a little screwed up by over booked buses. Our next planned destination is Salar de Uyuni in the South of Bolivia. Unfortunately, it isn't the easiest part of Bolivia to get to, and days are precious this late into our 10 week trip, so we have been somewhat anxious to leave La Paz. Ok. A quick one from Lake Titicaca. We left Cusco by overnight bus that was to stop at Puno, on Peru's side of Lake Titicaca, and move onto Copacabana, which is the town on the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca. We arrived at Puno at about 4am for a three hour stop over and whilst there we were lucky enough to see an amazing sunrise that was the only highlight of our time sitting in a rather shabby looking bus station for three hours, but a highlight non the less....

As it turns out the stop in La Paz has been affected by our hurried plans to make it Cusco, Peru in time to satisfy the natural attraction to Machu Picchu, the ancient "Lost Inca City", perched perisously on the sheer faces of the Andeas. The afternoon of the 14th of June we departed The Pantanal, for Corumba, Brazil, a crappy border town. We departed for Corumba with the hope of crossing the border into Bolivia and catching the so called "Death Train" to Santa Cruz. The bus from The Pantanal to Corumba was 5 hours and unfortunately the federal police station at Corumba closed an hour or two before our arrival, and hence we couldn't cross the border without the expressed (and stamped) ...
