Adventures As Lewis
It is always difficult saying goodbye to people you have gotten to know. It is always bittersweet every single time. We woke up early, had some hot coffee and a nice breakfast, hugged a few people, and caught a ride with Vivien and Cathy to the Avalon Guest House where we stayed before camp. It was so nice to just relax for a time. We did go out for lunch at KFC (have to try KFC in at least three or four different countries). Jason stopped by to get our photos, and between the two of us we had a whole bunch of photos and videos to share with him. In the evening we ordered pizza for dinner and hunkered down in our room for some much needed sleep before traveling to Malawi in the morning.
Lena booked an Uber for us that took us straight to the airport on quiet roads since it was a national holiday. The driver was very inquisitive and asked a whole lot of questions about the Bible and about the US. We learned a few things about South Africa in exchange.
Once we got to the airport, we were quickly reminded that not everyone does things exactly like we do. We had to pay for our carry on luggage to be checked since it was too heavy to be carried on. We had to pay cash at a separate desk from the airline desk - we were short one single South African Rand. To top it off, we found out last minute that we were actually flying on a different airline than we had been booked through, although the airplane had the expected name on it. It was nice to spend some time in a really nice airport in Johannesburg, have a cup of coffee, and then fly to our now home in Lilongwe.
