Adventures As Lewis
It's an experience in more ways than one whenever we visit Cincinnati. We lived in the area for most of our married life, and Lena lived there before we met. We have family in town as well as many good friends. It's also where the United Church of God has its home office. A lot goes on there. The men and women who work at the office coordinate the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom of God to all the world. Once a year many of the elders meet together to make decisions about what will happen the rest of the year, to learn more about what their role is in the salvation process, and to reunite with old friends. Since our first chance to visit the conference we have gotten together with many of the same people over and over for meals, great conversations, and to help reinvigorate each other so we can carry on through the coming year with a new energy. The conference gives everyone a chance to see each other face to face. There are many names I have heard my entire life and have only recently had the pleasure of meeting. There are a few individuals who are also relatively new to pastoring. They are going through many of the same experiences I am. They too are learning how to work with people in a very particular capacity. They have questions about what to do and how to do it the same as I do. These young men and their wives are courageous, going out and doing a difficult job at a young age, often in places where no one else really wants to go. I'm thankful that they are willing to take on the challenge. Someone has to do it. And if not us, then who?
