Yes, two blog updates in one day! We got done with our sightseeing pretty early today, but we got to visit Kinkakuji, the golden pavilion, and Nijo Castle! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. I'm pretty tired but I'm fighting to not go to bed at 6pm. Hence this blog entry.
So, we figured out the bus system, which isn't that bad, thanks especially to helpful guides and maps from the Khaosan Kyoto hostel. We easily navigated through bus to Kinkakuji and Nijo Castle. It was very nice out today, although I am a bit red from no sunscreen. Ah well. It was nice seeing the golden pavilion in the sunlight. Last time I was there it was raining. Nijo castle's front gate is under renovation as they are undergoing a great big renovation project there. Jeph donated some yen towards it and we got free pins!
One thing I really love when visiting these sites are the school kids. There are students everywhere! You feel like a celebrity when they come up and practice their English and then ask for your signature. I think they have contests to see who can get the most foreign signatures, so once you sign for one, a dozen more will hand you their worksheets!
Anyway, more fun tomorrow. Good night!
