Hello everyone! You can breathe easy now, as you can see we made it safely to our hostel in Osaka (well, technically it's Fukushima, which is part of Osaka). We are on the fourth floor here at the J-Hoppers Hostel and boy is it a lot warmer than I thought it would be! Could have been all the running around with luggage, too. Should have practiced that with Helen Rindsberg's suitcase races: guaranteed to get you prepped for running around Japan with luggage!
Anyway, let me tell ya, this trip started out horrifyingly. Our first flight out of CVG was delayed for an hour and a half and eventually cancelled due to the left engine failing. We were all in a tizzy about how we would make our connecting flight in Chicago to LA. Luckily, United was awesome and said, "Oh, we just decided to book you a flight to Narita right out of Chicago." Yay! Seriously, everything worked out in the end just in the nick of time. Even catching one of the last buses from the airport to Osaka Station.
Now we are exhausted and in our room. There is a strange, drunken Japanese man yelling outside, but that may just be the hostel's party guide...
I, Angie, had some super-delicious ramen after we checked in. Jeph wasn't feeling up for it (his loss, it was OISHII), so we wandered to the nearby 7eleven and he bought grape Fanta. Now we are sleepy, dizzy, and ready to hit the sack. Hopefully we'll be up for the hostel's morning tour of Osaka. I'm sure we will be up! This is Angie, over and out.
And now, some news. /lrrsound
I hate planes. At least i'm having luck with the other mass transit options in this city. Trains are weird. Prices on products make sense here because tax is already factored in, unlike our nonsense system back home.
Fortunately, things are less dumb now that we're no longer on ze planes. There are these germans and a few australians and several Hipster Americanus staying at our hostel. An odd bunch, to be sure.
That's all I have time to get in to tonight, too tired.
