The first leg of our revised trip began the morning of July 3rd. We flew by WestJet to Hamilton, Ontario, arriving at 15:15 hours, and immediately checked in at the FlyGlobeSpan desk. When we were told that they had no record of us being on that evening's flight, Barry (almost) fainted, but they found our booking soon after, and we were told that we were confirmed for the flight at 23:00 hours. Funny… our email confirmation said 23:59 hours… We finally boarded at 01:30 hours on July 4th, delayed because of a terrorism scare at Heathrow Airport. While waiting, Barry spoke with the local FlyGlobeSpan representative (who had worked for the company for two weeks) about getting a partial credit for our original tickets. There was nothing that he could do, he said; but he suggested that we phone or write to FlyGlobeSpan when we got into the UK. It would seem that we have it pretty good in Canada! When checking in with WestJet, Barry asked what their policy regarding missed flights was. He was told simply that passengers are booked on the next flight, possibly with a small penalty assessed. We hoped that would be the case with our tickets.
