We had received some information from someone that the mausoleum in Hanoi is worth a visit. A shrine to Ho Chi Minh himself where his preserved body can be visited, a weird but must visit attraction. So we were told. In search of this year view of a preserved human body, we ended up doing nothing but failing.
Fail 1 - We were excitedly rushing round what we thought was the mausoleum to view the preserved corpse. It turns out we had just paid 50,000 dong to get into the museum. WE DONT DO MUSEUMS ANYMORE...."museum'd out".
Fail 2 - We found the mausoleum but no way could we see the body. It was similar to Buckingham Palace with the mall and changing of guards.
Fail 3 - We bought some sandals called "Ho Chi Minh" sandals or "Uncle Ho's" as we have renamed them. These sandals are made from lorry tyres and are the sandals that the Viet Cong used to wear during the U.S. War. We have been searching for some since we visited the tunnels. At first this purchase made up for the previous fails of the day. They are said to last 20 years. Soon enough we found out that these sandals do not mold to the feet.....the feet must mold to the sandal. Blisters galore.
We returned to our spot at city view for the evening to watch another viewing of accidents and near misses on the busy streets below.

Pham Tuyen You should have read or asked before going there. The mausoleum is only opened in the morning and you don't have to buy ticket to see his body.
