Nervous Turkey!
A failed trip to the lagoon close by, meant one thing. When in Vang Vieng do what the Vang Viengians do....TUBING. We have found this to be our favourite line at the moment - When in Vang Vieng.
Instantly the vibe wasn't the same, we had to make new friends and the bars were different as they change every 3 days due to them having a close in 2012.
On arrival at bar 4, we were told to just carry on as there was nobody there. So with 4 others we had met we carried on down stream with plenty of light to get us back even if we had to go the whole way...or so we thought. Things got scary as we reached the 2km further sign and missed the rope that somebody threw out. The sky was growing dark and the river wasn't flowing very fast. After 40 minutes in the growing dark, we saw a light and as if we were on the Titanic we started to shout for help and move ourselves towards the light.
To our rescue was a tuk tuk man waiting for a fare, obviously this happens to a lot of people. He pulled us in and within minutes we were back in town.
