Today was an early start exploring the town - our first solo moped session. Sihanoukville was our oyster. Joe gave us some advice - to keep $1 note in our pocket to bribe the police when stopped (as we would be driving without a Cambodian license - which everyone does!)
We set off, with map in hand, heading to Serendipity beach - the 18-30s area! So we grabbed some quick breakfast.
Events of the day -
1. The beach being cleared - Our first thought... tsunami (but then on reflection surely that wouldn't have been the first thing they did!) It was just because they were actually banned from putting things on the beach by the police. So after a tip off they were on their way the beach miraculously cleared.
2. We get stopped by the biggest road block of Sihanoukville - $10 bribe - they were having none of the $1 bribe (it was nearly lunchtime so we should have known!) When we asked how we wouldn't be stopped again they reassured us by saying they would take our photo and send it to the other police. On reflection... what other police, they were the only ones. So look out for us on facebook.... Mugs we stopped today!!
3. Visit a few more beaches.
4. Got our $10 back in a way - complaining about yesterday's trip when booking Koh Rong ($20 instead of $30)
5. 5pm went for tea. 1am return without tea! But made some nice friends - Kat from Blame Canada Bar and Chris and Chloe from Bristol. Drunk for the first time.
Good Day!!
