We got up to head straight to the Egyptian museum. We were allowed to wear anything so didnt have to cover up because we were in a large group. We also had our Egyptian guide, Wael with us and a security guard. It was an interesting place but it was poo you weren't even allowed to take your camera in and there was a fine if thy caught you with a camera phone. The tombs and necklaces and vases and things looked new and had awesome collies still. It was hard to believe they were so old and they looked like they were out of a movie. We saw tutenkhamens treasures though and looked the 3 tombs and 2 coffin that were one inside another before him. He wasn't even a rich king apparently but he had heaps of stuff. Some of the jewellery looked like things you would get from diva which was probably why it was hard to believe they were his and from so long ago. We also saw old mummy's that were a bit freaky. It was so weird how well they were preserved. Some still had hair and eyebrows and lashes and some had fake ones. The cloth they were wrapped in was old looking but still looked so good for being thousands of years old. I wish we could have or a photo of them though. There was also mummified dogs, goats, monkeys and a huge crocodile and Nile perch which you could still see the scales and hair of. it was pretty cool to see. We left there to get on the bus and headed to the papyrus making place which was the paper the book of the dead in the museum was made of. they showed us how to make it from the papyrus plant and showed us around the shop where we could buy different paintings done on it. There were some beautiful ones I would have liked to get but I didn't want to rub out of money and had nowhere to put it. I got a small one with my star sign and name written in hieroglyphics written next to it. Kinda wish I just got a painting when I left though because I don't really want to hang a picture of my name on the wall. We then went to Giza in the bus to see the pyramids. It was strange how close to town they were and we had chicken for lunch in a restaurant across the road from them. We moved on to the khufus pyramid and got to climb it ad take pixtures. From even 200 meters away the bricks looked relatively small but up close they went to the height of about just under my armpits. There were people here trying to see things too and even little kids. Made me wonder what their life was like and if they went to school. We moved on to a place a little away from the 3 main pyramids and had a group photo with all in view before taking a camel ride in the sahara dessert. It was fun and the man leading stopped to take your photo. We had to tip him at the end - give him 'backsheesh.' It was pretty hot but was almost the same a charters on a hot day so wasn't too bad. Some of the men were funny and joked around too so it was good they were friendly. We left there to the 2nd biggest pyramid to go inside. It was cool walking down in but quite a small passage that you had to bend in halt get into. Weren't allowed cameras again but I got a few sneaky ones on my phone. There wasn't much in there jut some small rooms an tunnels to other rooms but was still interesting. when we came out there was more people selling things and a young boy kept calling me shakira and other girls lady gaga again. One also tried giving me a 'present' but we were warned once we took it they would ask for money and not take the item back. We left with yet again more water and headed over to see the sphinx. It was pretty cool but when we were trying to take photos a youngish boy came and told us how to do them so it looked like we were hugging it and stuff and we had been warned he'd ask for money so said no heaps of times but he was very forceful and when he did ask for money I didn't give him any because i only had large notes. I felt pretty bad though and he seemed pretty angry with me. We walked from there to get pn our bus and drove to a place that made Egyptian cotton. We only stopped for a short time but brought a red scarf shawl thing made from it. It kind of looks like a piece of material you'd buy in titleys but at least it was from here. we moved on to a perfumery where the man gave us a drink of hibiscus which was quite nice and was meant to be good for colds. They told us the different herbs and oils to use for different things too before showing us perfumes like the Egyptian lotus flower. They also showed us one that you smelt that was kind of like vicks but a liquid that really cleared your nose and throat. They had a deal with 4 perfumes for 675 Egyptian pounds Which was just over a hundred Australian dollars so I got 3 and Billie got one and we got to pick 4 free little perfume bottles. we then found out that we'd had some unlucky luck and that cairo had decided not to send a train to Aswan anymore so we were to spend another night in Cairo and catch a 2 hour flight the next day instead of being on a train for 14 hours. We went to dinner and had chicken again ad caught the bus back to the hotel where we sat in the lobby and communally read a funny cosmo article. Went to bed knowing we could sleep in till 10 or more the next day.
