An interesting start to a new adventure, got to Darwin with about $200 and within two days it had gone, it's not like money was being spent frivolously, but everything costs money including taxi fairs, lodging and beers. It's just a good job were coming from the uk, otherwise we may not have been so lucky. When the realisation had come that we were in a foreign land without money, the British consulate was the way forward. So we looked up Jeanette and went to say hello, explaining that I was soon to be paid and needed to see if it would be possible to help us out. She contacted the hostel, arranged for me to pay tomorrow, gave me 20 bucks a can of coke and sent me on my way. Amazing. The first place we stayed in was a lodge called the Baramundi there were two ladies on the balcony as I arrived, I asked whether the lodge was close to the city which it was and where is good to go, they directed me to the beach so I grabed a few stubbies and head down. After a while of chilling on the beach I thought it time be social and speak to some people so sitting down with a group of lads who seemed to be having a laugh I decided to introduce myself and ask if it was ok to chill, these guys were pretty funny Estonians I think, all blazin on the beach. After finishing their stash, I walked back to the lodge and had another beer with the ladies, a few more later Brad appeared. So here I am supposed to be having the time of my youth and all of a sudden im sat drinking and smoking with people at least 2 times my age and the strange thing was I felt comfortable with them. The morning after i went to visit the next hostel, so I grabbed my gear and went to check in. After making my things secure I decided to go to Mindel beach and see the beer can regatta.. Was so burned by the end of the day, but it was awesome there were plenty of beach babes, tug of war competitions and more, the beer can boats were great, one looked like a massive hammer, needless to say most of the boats which enter are sunk by the end of the first race then the remanding boats have a water/flour fight. After the regatta I went to the mindel market for a stroll and a bite to eat while watching the sun set..
