In Paris you can spend four hours waiting in line to go up the Eiffel tower, half a day waiting to get tickets into Musee D'Orsay, or the Louvre, pay $20 for a bad coffee on the Champs Élysées and crowd around the Arc de Triumph for an obligatory photo. And you should, it's what Paris is famous for and you don't take a 24-hour flight to miss these and several other amazing experiences. But there's a reason to come back to Paris each year, whether it's the shopping, eating, people-watching or galleries, there are so many reasons to love this city. We spent yesterday holidaying. We rode our bikes, sans helmets, along the Seine, racing tour buses, scooters and taxis, past Invalides and onto the Eiffel Tower for a picnic on the grass in the sun. We read the paper, sun-baked, ogled, laughed and discussed the merits of a no-nose bike seat I read about. I bought shoes, as fabulous as they are ridiculous, WW did a little work, we drank Laurent Perrier champagne, ate chevre (cheese) and watched Australia vs Brazil in the women's football world cup. Then we went out, late, for crepes and cider, to practice our French while I tried not to roll my ankle on the cobble stones while wearing my fabulous new shoes.
