We are running out of time before we have to be in Venice and after riding part of the famous Danube yesterday we have caught a train straight to the alps. The Danube ride, from vienna yo passau following the Euro cycle network, looks lovely and hundreds of cycle tourists are doing it as I type. But, and I realise this sounds elitist but to hell with it. It's not for us and looks boring with little diversity or challenges (other than following bike path signs and fighting for elbow room alongside the tour groups and more mature riders who seem to dominate the path) so given the choice of riding alongside a river or the alps we have chosen the latter. The train is pretty awesome, scenery is spectacular and our ride takes use through the Austrian lake district to Fuschl am See, home to Red Bull strangely enough. Time to get this show back on the road! Yee ha!
