When daylight woke me I was pleasantly surprised it was 7am. I returned to the tent for a lie in while Graham went in search of bread and milk. After a while I began to get worried that he had got lost but nobody could lose our campsite there is a huge volcanic rock outside, he must have been kidnapped! . After 40 minutes he through a baguette over the fence and disappeared again still in search of milk. A good job we hadn't planned an early start. Eventually we had breakfast a short run and packed up the little tent.
We headed northwards to the Loire region , another scorching hot day. The temperatures creeps up and peaks about 5 pm when we arrived at a campsite at Gien alongside the Loire. An enormous sandy beach adjoins the campsite and although we would love a swim, the warm shallow river water is growing lots of algae so a swim is probably not a good idea. Our allocated pitch was in full sun and unbearably hot so we asked to change it for a shadier one opposite. We can't believe it's been raining all week in London. The campsite has a happy hour at the bar so a pre dinner beer is required and then we wander off to explore the small town with its castle and watch the sun set over the Loire- how romantic! The pharmacy sold me some cough medicine, I know it's a complete waste of money, it tastes far too nice and it's not making me tired, I think I could be in car again tonight.
