the first week in Australia has come and gone so I think its time to update my blog (or even start my blog).
we stayed for a good while in Adelaide which was awesome - made somne great friends and really like the small city. we did everything a tourist would want too, including crawling into the drainage system to find some girls keys! the days have been hot and the nights out have been pretty epic! having arrived here with jet lag I ended up going out with chris untill 6.30 the next morning, entering the bars again to have a morning beer before going to bed for a few hours! unfortunatly they dont do proper pints here, they do schooners which are like half pints- its cause the ausies cant drink!
our biggest adventure so far has been buying a camper van which we have traveled the great ocean road with! amazing views and beautiful beaches. unfortunatly we had a bigger adventure yesterday which i shall tell you all about now....
however we had somne problems. we went to the place, Johannah - unfortunatly the surf wasnt that great but it was really nice! gorgeous scenery as we came down from some hills. anyway, we leave the beach and the damn camper breaks down! we push it to a farm in the midle of nowhere. it was extremly hot and flys bloody everywhere!!! the guy comes out has a look but no joy - then another guy comes from another farm a mile away but still dosnt know whats wrong. so we ring up for a tow truck - the closest place with a tow truck was an hour away!! but im not too fused, its all one big adventure! so we have to wait in the boiling heat with all the flies for 2 and a half hours. then kevin comes to pick us up. there wasnt enough seats in the truck so i sat berhind them for the very bumpy hour long trip! we get to the town (colac) and have to wait for the mechanics to open the next day (which is today) - so we book into a pub, which isnt too bad - 30 quid for the three of us. get up to the room and its like something from a crime scene! the decor is 70's theres a hole in the wall where som1s punched thru, some sort of blood marks on the ceiling, satains on the walls, the fridge is from the 50's (and smells like it) and its boiling hot! anyway, the food there wasnt too bad and we went to bed quite early. goit up this morn and went to the garrage - it cost 260 for the tow and will be aroun 400 dollars for the replacment of a timming belt - which isnt too bad. appparently the engine looks in good nick and it was just bad luck that it cluncked out on us!
we just found out that the place we stayed at last night has had a few murders over the past few years! great! fortunatly we are heading off to lorne tonight which has waterfalls and such! a bit differnt compared to here as the lake is completly dried up! its an amazing site! I will post photos soon.
chris and i are now looking for some work in the mines (somewhere in the outback) - this will pay about 2000 dollars a wekk but will be hard!
speak to you all soon,
lots of love,
lee
