The alarm clock started going off at 5.30am, but I couldn't find the damn switch to turn it off, so grabbed a phone to shine the light on it....then noticed on the phone that it was 6.30am...but the alarm clock said 5.30am!! We slept in! For some reason the phone alarm didn't go off! Just couldn't believe it!
We were supposed to be at Excalibur hotel to meet the tour bus at 6.15am, which takes us to the tour office! I knew from yesterday that the tour doesn't actually set off until 7.30am, so
I told Therese to just get ready while I rang the tour company to get the address of the office.
It was a mad dash, but we made it to the office. The bonus was we had an extra hours sleep, which we really needed anyway!
We're starting to think that this tour isn't meant to be.
We managed to sleep quite a bit on the way to catch up on the less than 3 hours sleep from last night!
We made it to the Helicopter flight centre! It was Therese's first flight and my second.
It was absolutely unbelievable! We flew around for just over half an hour with our jaws touching the floor. Therese had a perfect seat at the front and the floor is clear so she could see loads! It's incredible to see. Easily in the top few things we've seen throughout travelling.
We both said after that we were a bit jittery...the wind kept knocking the helicopter around! We thought something was going to go wrong seeing as something has been trying to stop us doing this tour with all the mishaps! We made it back to base though.
It was absolutely fantastic, we both loved it.
Got our lunch again at a more reasonable time. Only thing this time was that Therese ordered a turkey sandwich without cheese and got cheese and ham. These little things that go wrong all the time are so tedious!!
The driver picked us up and we were taken to Mather's Point first this time. He gave us the option to walk to the next lookout point, 2 miles along the rim to Bright Angel Lodge. So that's what we did. Absolutely, breathtaking scenery on the way. We took some really good photos of us both sitting on the cliff edges!
Well, it was all worth it in the end. The Grand Canyon is a spectacular place.
Can you freakin believe this!?!? We had a snorer in the seat behind us on the way back. I just don't know what it is, they seem to follow me around!!
Very tired after these last two days. So, we've decided to stay in Las Vegas yet another night to give us chance to recover!
