We booked a scuba trip for the morning leaving at 9am. Everything was paid for with vouchers. You had to buy food vouchers at the start of the day. No money crossed hands with the people who worked there only the designated coupon person excepted bahts.
We took our scuba masks and headed to the 'pier'. A man in a long boat took us to one site, pointed which way to head then sailed off once we were off his boat. We have never seen fish like this. We thought the scuba dive showed us amazing fish - these fish were bigger and better and so close. The water - with the best coral and fish, in the surin islands, is so shallow you don't need to dive, you can see everything from your snorkel! As the current took us the boat was waiting to catch us. We sailed off to the next site. Not too far away from where we had just been but it was far enough away to give us a new sample of fish. The longest school of the brightest Coloured fish swam past us. It went on for about 100yards! We swam with the current to the pick up point utterly amazed by what we could see. Me and Lee were swimming down holding our breath to get a better look at the coral when all of a sudden 5 huge fish with heads like dolphins and teeth looked at me. They were about a metre long. I freaked out and swam as fast as I could to the surface, swollowing half the sea in a panic. I came to the surface and pointed to Lee - who of course didnt freak out but lingered to look at them. Too long for my liking I was off like a shot! And straight back on the boat, shaking like a loon. The boat man thought it was funny and kept pretending the fish were coming to get me in the boat (after Lee told him I was scared). They were the fatest, big fish, I've ever seen and they had teeth!
I loved the trip but I was glad the snorkeling was over for the day. I don't think my heart could take any more!
When we got back the day consisted of eating - on our way to the eating area a monkey swung past in the trees - reading, listening, relaxing, showering.... Then bed.
