We woke and booked on to a day trip to Maya bay. A man came to the reception at the accomodation to get us then walked us to the meeting point. He then escorted us to the pier to get on a little tuk tuk boat. As soon as we'd climbed on the non English speaking captain set sail. He pulled up at an island dropped his anchor n sat back. We all looked at each other.... Then the man made a gesture with his hand to say get off so we did. It was monkey island. As we walked to the shore we could see monkeys swinging in the trees and climbing up the rocks. We took a couple of pics then went in the water to cool off. It was so warm the sea felt warm. I didn't like it (because it feels like someones weeing near you) so i took a few steps back into the deeper, colder water only to be bit! As soon as i felt the pinch i ran to shore! When i looked at my leg i had a suction mark followed by four teeth marks (2 up 2 down) it was bleeding! (only a little but still there was definately red there). I didn't see the fish but I'm guessing it was a trigger fish that felt threatened by my fleshy white skin, that or it thought it was bread. I jumped back on the boat! One of the lads on the boat, from Morroco, had been sat with the monkeys on the island and had got up too quickly. The monkey took a swipe at him and put 3 claw marks across his back! We tried asking the captain for a wipe or something pointing to his wound. The Captain opened his tobacco pouch and rubbed a pinch of it into the lads open wound. I tried not to go on about my wound too much after that. We sailed around the island to a cove of crystal clear water and a view of limestone rock growing from the sea. Lee jumped off and did a spot of snorkelling. I stayed on the boat sunbathing (I was still trying to get over the angry fish here). As we sailed around tge island we went past a cave were we could see people were living. They had a boat to take them to the mainland but slept inside the cave. Final stop was Maya Bay. It's we're the film the beach was filmed. You can imagine swimming to the white sandy shore and exploring the jungle behind it to set up home. Lee went off and did the exploring whilst I read my book in the sun. He wasn't long because it's quite a small beach. He got loads of bites too!
After about one hour it began to rain. Our boat pulled up so we all jumped on. We were suppose to be on Maya bay for 3 hour so the captain was a bit flummoxed but got the hint we didn't want to stay on the beach in the rain. We had some melon on the journey back and apart of the trip was a whiskey bucket each. They hadn't supplied enough whiskey, coke or buckets and because me and Lee had passed our bucket on thinking there was another we didn't get one! Noone offered there's so we took pictures and enjoyed the views sober.when we got back we realised we still had time to climb to the top of the view point to watch the sunset. It starts off with loads of steps then after you pay a few bahts you climb higher via slopes through trees. It was a hike! The idea was to watch the sunset and get a nice picture but by the time we got there were sweating like monsters! We cooled and got a picture. It looked stunning. You can see both beaches and the town below. We just sat and watched. I stumbled on a rock and cut my ankle so Lee asked for a tissue from the shop at the top. He came back with a block of ice. Wasn't pleasant watching the ice turn red and cleaning my now bloody foot with it but the actual wound stopped bleeding. I have a travel scar too now! We went back got a shower and headed back for food. As we were walking to the bar all the heavens opened! We got in the pub just in time and sat at the bar. The 2 bar men were a comedy duo. They were doing rubbish magic tricks and joking about each other. We stayed until we were feeling a little tidderly then headed back. We had to walk past a massage parlor to our room which had a women outside trying to get custom. She just blanked me and did a weird little dance to Lee then said in a high pitched voice 'want a massage'. I think Lee screamed in her face as he ran away?! Apparently he thought she sounded like a witch. We got in and passed out.
