We got off the boat, after routing for our bags in the mound at the back of the (some people stay on to go to Koh Lanta so their bags are mixed in and ours were at the bottom) then dragged the bags along the pier. Mid way down the pier there's a fee to get on the island of 20bahts pp. At the end of the pier and start of the town there are people trying to pull you in to arrange accomodation. As we didn't have any and it was roasting I walked over to have a look. The man asked how much we wanted to pay so I told him 500bahts... He said the cheapest you'll find in the island is 800bahts and it's this one. He pointed to a photo within a montage of pictures on the wall. He told us the cheaper accomodation on the island is up the hill, past the view point. He brought the price down to 700bahts but Lee wanted to have a look around himself first. So we dragged our bags through, what we found was, the tiny town of Phi Phi. There are no roads just side alley size streets. U can pay for a taxi for 50 bahts to carry your bags to your accomodation. The taxi consists on a large wheelbarrow and one or two men pulling it. You walk behind it. Again Lee saw this as an unnecessary expense so we pulled our own bags along the streets. We saw some scuba diving schools as we walked along. One gave us a map and told us to scuba from Phi Phi you'll find all schools here are the same price but they vary on quality. The price for a fun dive in Koh Tao, on the other side of Thalland was 700 bahts here it is 2,500 bahts! We took the map and kept walking. We were aiming for the accomodation up the hill but asked a few places on the way to fet some idea of prices. The general proces were 1,200bahts except for one were it was shack with no aircon or fan but communal showers and a communal bbq area. The man living in the tent in the centre of it was the tout.... We took a wrong turn and ended up at the bottom of a really steep hill at the back of the dam were there was no accomodation. Both of us were sweating profusely as we dragged the bags to the top, in the mid day heat, then we finally arrived at jjs bungalows. I left Lee in the shade with the bags whilst I did a little walk to ask how much. I asked in the 4 places and they all said 800bahts pn so we went with the nicest, JJs. It was basically a hut on the hill. It had a bed, fan, bathroom and a balcony. What more could you want? We through our stuff in the room and went off to explore. We got some food, went to the beach, which was nice. It had water sports there so people were parasailing. After a chill on the beach we went back got showered and changed then headed out to the 'party' beach. There were fire dancers all along the beach. We sat on the cushions outside the bar and watched as the dancers did a little routine, which ended with them in a pyramid formation twirling rings of fire! As we looked out to sea you could see bolts of lightening. There wasn't any rain just lightning hitting the sea. We stayed there for a couple then headed back.
