We got picked up from our guesthouse bright and early and taken to the harbour for some coffee and toast. We picked some fins then boarded a speedboat to head for the Similan islands. On our way to island number 9 (the Similan Islands are numbered 1-9) the boat stopped. There were a school of dolphins swimming and playing next to our boat. We watched and took pictures for a few minutes then continued on to our first snorkel sight. We snorkeled near island 9, 6 & 5 and went on the island on 7 & 4 on one of the islands we were given food which was a buffet of rice, chicken and fruit, just off the beach. When we walking from the beach, in to the jungle area for food, there were flying foxes in the trees asleep.... After we eat we climbed up the rocks to a giant rock that looks like a sail. We got a few pictures there because the views are so imaginary. The sea, the beach, the island. It's all things we've dreamed about and there we were stood on one of the islands looking out. The climb up and down was a bit scary. The rocks had little twigs stuffed under them. I don't know whether it was a joke to say they were holding it up? Oh and a lad jumped infront of me, rude enough, on the cliff edge and nearly knocked me off. He didn't look back never mind apologise and it wasn't because I was going slow, quite on the contrary , I was like a monkey with lightening speed (as was Lew) this boy, now in front of me , sautéed down like he was walking on hot rocks. (the floor was pretty hot - the tour/boat people took our flip flops when we got on and had kept them ever since).
Whilst we were sunbathing (and whilst on the top of the cliff) we noticed that the beautiful Russian girls were posing (quite provocatively) for their, over weight, speedo wearing boyfriends. Some were posing like they were in a catalogue shoot and the back ground was a mere convenience. Bizarre.
After we were sailed back to Koh Lak we changed, picked up our laundry (we had everything cleaned after being on the Surin Islands incase there were crazy jungle animals living in them) then went shopping. We bought Lee's mum a birthday present!
We headed back (I bought some paper and envelopes so I wanted to get back to write to everyone). Where we were staying had a motel kind of feel. The rooms were two floors high with a courtyard in the middle so we say outside (lee was playing on the laptop whilst I wrote). As I was in full flow of the letter to Ms Martha May Burke the couple from Sweden came over. They had been invited to a BBQ in the courtyard. Next minute the lady who owned it came over ushering us all over for Thai sauce on rice with BBQ chicken (that blew your tongue out of your mouth so we went for a milder option). We'd already eaten so we just got a small potion between us. We sat there talking to the others (staying at the property) until it was time for bed. We had some crazy chats with a French man about religion. They tried to offer us some mount blanc warm white wine. We respectfully declined. It was a nice ending to Koh Lak.
